Agathe Michel Brevot

HR Assistant, National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and Environment (INRAE)

For most new staff members at TBI, their first day will likely include a stop at Agathe’s office on the fourth floor. There is a good chance they’ll hear some K-pop or heavy metal music on in the background and see an array of bright, whimsical things on her desk and pictures on the walls.

“My job is to onboard new arrivals at the lab. I love welcoming people from all over the world – it’s a truly special part of the job that I really enjoy.” Agathe has been a Human Resources Assistant at TBI since September 2021 and is one of the first people new employees meet at the laboratory. She oversees staff management and handles more than 500 personnel changes a year (arrivals, departures and contract renewals).

An HR Assistant’s job is a multifaceted one, requiring attention to detail and good people skills. Agathe takes her onboarding and support duties very seriously. A laboratory the size of TBI employs many people from a range of backgrounds, and Agathe must be a good listener and adapt to the various situations that can arise on any given day.

Originally from the Jura region in eastern France, Agathe began her career with the prison service in Bordeaux before joining TBI.

In her spare time, she enjoys reading, doing puzzles and going to concerts. With so many people and so much science to tap into at TBI, she says her next challenge is to gain a deeper understanding of the research carried out there.
